Hunter Thomas Gerschutz Obituary, HOLGATE, Ohio — Hunter Thomas Gerschutz of Holgate, Ohio, has died at the age of 23, leaving family members, friends and members of the community mourning the loss of a young man remembered for his energy, athletic spirit and ability to bring people together.
Hunter was born on June 28, 2003, to Debra Clement and Thomas Gerschutz. He attended Holgate Local Schools and graduated in 2022. During his school years, he participated in football and baseball, with sports becoming an important part of his life and a meaningful source of connection with others.
After graduating from high school, Hunter worked with Premier Patching. According to his published obituary, he was fun, outgoing and athletic, with a personality that made him memorable to the people around him. Funeral arrangements have been announced by Zachrich Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Holgate. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place Thursday at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend James Haugen officiating. Burial will follow at Marion Township Cemetery in Hamler.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, according to Hunter’s published obituary.
